Setting new standards in sheet metal processing

LOEWER BeltMaster K6TDK-1500 expands sheet metal processing at Müller Martini in Hasle

Müller Martini Maschinen & Anlagen AG, based in Hasle, Switzerland, has strengthened its sheet metal processing capabilities with another state-of-the-art system from LOEWER. With the new BeltMaster K6TDK-1500, the strategic manufacturing partner of the internationally active Müller Martini Group is once again relying on proven technology ‘Made in Germany’.

The new system is a true all-rounder: it enables grinding, deburring, edge rounding and the application of orbital and finish grinding patterns on sheets with a width of 1500 mm. One special feature is its high flexibility: both large formats and small parts the size of a 1-euro coin can be processed with the highest precision.

The decision to purchase another LOEWER system was made in response to increasing quality requirements and growing complexity in sheet metal processing. Around 2,000 tonnes of steel, stainless steel and aluminium are processed annually at the Hasle site – including laser cutting, bending, manual and robot-assisted welding, and powder coating in RAL and NCS colours.

The production management team led by Michael Mahler consistently focuses on material separation and dry processing to ensure the highest product quality. Steel parts are processed separately on a new LOEWER DiscMaster 4TD with a working width of 1,500 mm. A return conveyor belt ensures efficient one-man operation, which reduces personnel costs and increases throughput. The new BeltMaster, on the other hand, is used for processing stainless steel, aluminium and other materials.

The BeltMaster K6TDK-1500 impresses with its modular configuration featuring a total of five processing stations. Two grinding belts, two disc or brush units with interchangeable grinding discs or rounding brushes, and an orbital finishing unit enable a wide range of processing options that can be individually adapted to a wide variety of components and requirements.

Aluminium processing has also been optimally integrated with a suitable wet extraction system. This means that even intensive processing of light metals is possible without compromising on occupational safety or plant hygiene.

A specific application example: For the precise guidance of paper in large-format printing systems, a particularly uniform surface of the sheet metal parts is essential. In close cooperation with LOEWER, extensive surface tests were carried out in advance, which delivered convincing results.

The investment in a third LOEWER system at the Hasle site underscores the partnership and confidence in the innovative strength of the North Hessian machine manufacturer. Close cooperation with LOEWER’s sales team and the individual adaptation of the system to specific customer requirements were decisive factors in this decision.

‘We deliberately wanted to move away from wet processing, which was associated with high maintenance costs and unwanted material carryover,’ explains production manager Mahler. The combination of dry processing and flexible units ensures higher quality and greater efficiency in production.

With the new LOEWER BeltMaster K6TDK-1500 and an additional DiscMaster 4TD-1500, Muller Martini in Hasle is ideally equipped to meet the challenges of modern sheet metal processing – flexible, efficient and quality-oriented.
