Micro-positioning systems at world market leader Märzhäuser Wetzlar rely on orbital finishing with LOEWER technology in production

Märzhäuser Wetzlar GmbH & Co. KG is one of the world’s leading suppliers whose developments and customised solutions in the field of micropositioning systems, controls and accessories for microscopy are used by leading microscope manufacturers. To ensure that the positioning systems can be perfectly anodised and coated, the brass and aluminium plates used must be prepared with process reliability. Märzhäuser utilises Loewer machine technology for this purpose.

Production Manager Mathias Wenig explains the need for uniform deburring of the sawn parts and subsequent perfect surface finishing. With our DiscMaster machine and the integrated orbital brush technology, both processing steps could be combined in one machine. The saw cuts are deburred cleanly, while at the same time the machining marks from the milling process are laminated and given a defined roughness for anodising and painting. This is no easy process for manual labour – even the smallest scratch marks are visible in the low-coverage, anti-reflective special paint, so no mistakes are allowed. This makes the work much easier.

Processing using orbital technology relaxes the parts, which previously often had a distortion due to conventional processing. This means that the required dimensional accuracy can be maintained without any problems.

Another advantage of the DiscMaster machine is its one-man operation, which is made possible by a reversing mode integrated into the machine.

Märzhäuser Wetzlar GmbH & Co KG was able to significantly reduce the workload of its employees by using its DiscMaster machine and optimise process reliability, accuracy and processing speed in its precision production. A complete success, even when scrutinised closely.
