Quality improvement in sheet metal processing at BFP Metalltechnik with LOEWER deburring and edge rounding machines

A wide variety of machining processes enable us to offer a wide range of services in sheet metal production, where aluminium, stainless steel or steel sheets up to formats of 3000 x 1500 mm can be machined, as well as in the manufacture of precision parts, including milling, turning, surface grinding and surface treatment. The company has invested in two LOEWER machines for deburring sheet metal and edge rounding.

Firstly, the SwingGrinder was purchased to cover the small parts processing previously performed by an older sanding belt machine as well as the fast, flexible processing of individual parts more efficiently. In a second step, the DiscMaster 4TD-1500 machine was purchased for series production.

According to Managing Director Böhm, the high flexibility and ease of operation as well as the optimal accessibility to all tools and the machine interior were the decisive arguments in favour of this machine selection. As different materials have to be processed, attention was also focussed on a very fast tool change. The previous machine was no longer suitable for removing the thicker burr from the fibre laser.

Another major advantage is that every employee can operate the machines, as the operation is self-explanatory. Once the basic settings have been made, only the sheet thickness needs to be entered. The simple tool change within a few minutes means that the machine is always ready for use in the areas of deburring and edge rounding, both for parts with a width of up to 1500 mm and very small parts (approx. 1 EUR piece size and smaller).

Mr Böhm is absolutely convinced that the price/performance ratio is just right. All employees were involved in the investment selection – this led to a clear result in favour of LOEWER.
